CAF Clears Referee Ndala of Wrongdoing in Senegal–Morocco AFCON Final
Nicolas Jackson and Jean Jaques Ndala
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially cleared Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala of any wrongdoing following the Senegal–Morocco Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, dismissing allegations of irregular officiating during the match.
In a statement released after a review of the game, CAF said its technical and refereeing committees found no evidence of misconduct or biased decisions, adding that Ndala handled the high-profile final with professionalism and in line with CAF refereeing standards.
CAF further praised the referee’s performance, noting that his decisions were consistent with the Laws of the Game and that he demonstrated composure and authority despite the intense pressure associated with a continental final.
The governing body said the review process forms part of its commitment to transparency and integrity in African football, especially during major tournaments such as the AFCON.
The clearance brings relief to Ndala, who had come under scrutiny following the final, and reinforces CAF’s confidence in its refereeing structures and officials
