Ekhaya FC Turns Down ZESCO United Bid for Alick Lungu
Ekhaya FC has turned down an offer from ZESCO United to sign Flames left-back Alick Lungu, saying the money offered was too little.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Thando Mhango, said ZESCO United offered $30,000, which is about K52 million. However, he explained that Lungu’s release clause is K100 million, so the club could not accept the offer.
Mhango said ZESCO United can still get the player if they pay the full amount. He also praised Lungu, saying he is a talented player who can help both in attack and defense because he started his career as a striker before becoming a defender.
The deal broker, Haroon Kassim, said he was disappointed that the transfer did not go through, adding that ZESCO United did not fully understand the value of the player.
Lungu joined Ekhaya FC last year after leaving FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Towards the end of the season, he did not play regularly.
