Malawi’s Under-20 women’s national football team, the Scorchers Under-20 has kicked off its preparations ahead of the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup qualifying matches against Guinea Bissau.
The training camp has brought together young talents from different clubs as the technical panel focuses on improving fitness, teamwork, and tactical understanding in readiness for the crucial qualifiers. The matches are seen as an important step for the development of women’s football in the country.
Among the players in camp is Sarah Mlimbika, a central midfielder for Kukoma Ntopwa Queens, who hails from Mbayani. Mlimbika is expected to add creativity and stability in midfield, drawing from her experience at club level.
Coaches believe the inclusion of players like Mlimbika will strengthen the squad as the team aims to put up a strong challenge against Guinea Bissau and progress in the qualifiers.
The Scorchers Under-20 are targeting a positive start in their campaign as they seek to secure a place at the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.
