BLACK MAMBA LAID TO REST IN ENGLAND
The body of former Flames striker Esau “Black Mamba” Kanyenda has been laid to rest today in England.
Kanyenda, one of Malawi’s most celebrated footballers, passed away on 2 December after a long battle with liver cancer. His death was met with deep sorrow across the football fraternity and the nation at large, as fans, former teammates, and football officials paid tribute to a player who gave so much to Malawian football.
Black Mamba was known for his lethal finishing and fighting spirit on the pitch, qualities that made him a key figure in the Flames during his playing career. His contributions to both club and national football earned him widespread respect and admiration.
At the time of his death, Kanyenda was 43 years old. His burial in England marks a somber moment, closing a chapter on the life of a football icon whose legacy will continue to inspire young players in Malawi and beyond.
