WAFCON to Proceed as Scheduled, Confirms CAF President
Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football, has confirmed that the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will go ahead as planned.
Motsepe said CAF remains in discussions with Morocco regarding hosting arrangements. While several other countries have expressed interest in staging the tournament, they have requested changes to the scheduled dates.
However, Motsepe emphasized that the tournament calendar cannot be adjusted because WAFCON serves as a qualifying competition for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
He assured stakeholders that the tournament will be held within the planned timeframe and is expected to be a success.
