The Malawi Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reforming the land and housing sector as part of efforts to improve investment opportunities, urban planning, and economic growth.
Speaking during the opening of a technical working session on sectional titles, real estate management, and property valuation regulations in Salima District, Minister of Lands Chimwemwe Chipungu said the government will continue supporting policies and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, innovation, and inclusivity in land administration.
Chipungu said stronger land administration systems are essential in creating a conducive environment for both local and foreign investment while also promoting orderly urbanisation across the country.
He added that effective land reforms can contribute significantly to sustainable economic development and improved management of housing and property services.
Meanwhile, Yohane Dzowa from the Ministry of Justice said the ongoing discussions are expected to help tackle existing challenges affecting the land sector.
The technical meeting has brought together stakeholders to develop regulations that will guide sectional titles, property valuation, and real estate management in Malawi.
